Our Groups Letters of Concern Helped Release: Zouheir Yahiaoui of Tunisia

Zouhair Yahyaoui
In 2002 the 35-year-old was sentenced to two years in prison for his involvement with TUNeZINE, an independent website critical of the Tunisian government.
Amnesty International believes that the charges were politically motivated, and adopted Zouheir Yahiaoui as a prisoner of conscience.
The Global Importune letter signing group began sending letters of concern on behalf of Zouheir Yahiaoui to officials in the government of Tunisia sometime around August 2003.
He was RELEASED on November 18, 2003
